Building a puppet show with paper and cardboard

There are many different things that you can do with your kids with just using cardboard and paper. For instance you can have a puppet show. Here are some steps for building a puppet show with paper and cardboard.

The first step to building a puppet show is to get all of the materials that you are going to need. You will need a cardboard toilet roll or paper towel roll, craft sticks, glue, scissors, construction paper, felt googly eyes, yard and a card board box.

The second step to building a puppet show is to take your paper towel roll or toilet paper roll and decorate it with the yarn for hair, and the googly eyes and cut out the felt to make a mouth and clothe. Then take the craft stick and glue it to the bottom on the inside to make a handle for you to be able to hold. You can also cut the paper towel holders or the toilet paper holders to be different heights so your people are different heights. You can also make animals by turning the toilet paper roll side ways and sticking craft stick into the actual toilet paper roll or toilet paper roll for the legs. You can also use construction paper to make hats for your puppets. You can also use construction paper to use for props that your puppets might hold like a suit case or a drink.

The third step to building a puppet show is to make the stage where your puppet show will be performed. You will want to find a big box like a refrigerator box. Turn the box side ways and cut a big enough hole that you will be able to perform your puppet show. On the back wall of the card board box using construction paper to decorate the back wall of the refrigerator box which will be the back drop. You can also cut out construction paper to go on each side of the opening to appear like curtains.

The fourth step to building a puppet show is to make a sign out of construction paper that advertises what kind of puppet show you are doing. This will give your puppet show the look of a real play.

The fifth step to building a puppet show is to decorate the box itself with different colors of markers and crayons. This will help give your stage character. You can also use some paint to help the decorations stick out more. You can also use paint to paint curtains on the side instead of using construction paper.

There are so many different options when it comes to building a puppet show with paper and cardboard. You just have to figure out what you want you want your puppet show to include and what theme you want it to take. You can also build your puppet show to a theme. For instance if you want to do a play that takes place in Jamaica you could build palm trees to be part of your play or even paint them on the side of the box or even on the construction paper to be part of the scenery.
